FAMILY WEEKEND ABC-HOUSE 5 AND 6 OCTOBER 2024
ARCHITECTURE
New windows have just been installed, but there is much more to build and convert in the ABC House this weekend: bamboo building scaffolds or micro gardens, dream cities or punnik towers, models made of rib carton, sticks or kapla blocks, …
In our new architecture studio you will discover constructions and building techniques from all over the world: a bridge made of tree roots, tent camps among the foliage or Japanese towers and ghost towns. You can design patterns and weaving structures or craft your own house guard or gnome.
We can also learn from old (construction) masters like Leonardo da Vinci. Who continues to amaze us and the golden section is omnipresent.
Roll up your sleeves, we’re going to build!
Kamishibai Stories
Come and listen to tales about dream houses, feeling at home or famous architects.
You’ll find our storyteller with a bike on Place Gaucheret or in the kamishibai area in the ABC House.
05/10 and 06/10, several times
Workshop Jardins Imaginaires – LaM
ABC and the educational department of the LaM, a museum in Villeneuve d’Ascq in northern France, will work closely together over the next few months.
During this workshop, museum staff will introduce you to the work of Art Brut artist Theo Wiesen.
He became known for his totemic sculptures of people and animals, which he exhibited around the house where he lived.
You will also get to work yourself, making and decorating your own little totem pole to place among your plants or in the garden!
Saturday 05/10 and Sunday 06/10, 10h-17h
In the labo class
Exhibition Madame Georgette
Madame Georgette is a grandmother who listens, gathers stories and tells them. But also a giant camera on a bicycle cart that shoots portraits of the city and the people who live there. In June, you could find Madame Georgette’s photographers in Gaucheret Park. Through Ismaïl’s childhood memories, Kahraman’s view of how his neighborhood is changing, Dounia and Fabienne’s walks, Marian and Dalal’s daily appointment and all the other encounters, they wove a common story. On the fence around the ABC house, you can see an expo with the results of this project.
With the support of Bruxelles Mobilité in the framework of the project call “Bruxelles en vacances – Livings lab”.
Saturday 05/10 and Sunday 06/10 , 10h-17h
Atelier de l’Enjoliveur
Atelier de l’Enjoliveur is a shared artist studio recently installed near the ABC house. A rolling construction, the size of a wagon, but flat as a table, takes off throughout the Gaucheret neighborhood and becomes a studio, a work table on wheels, a horizontal blackboard, a stage, a showplace, a meeting place…. In this way, artists Roel Kerkhofs and Gustave Demoen want to get to know the neighborhood and its residents, and to search together for the beauty that can be found there.
