HOUSE DISPLAY CASES
We’ve integrated four display cases in the ABC house, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor. In them, each trimester, we show new alphabet books, images or objects from the ABC collection that deserve extra attention, our ‘coup de coeurs’ of the moment. In the cases on the ground floor we exhibit creative works of children (made during one of the ABC projects), and remarkably designed toys. In the display cabinets on the first floor we show the A, B & C pages from an old or new alphabet book and inventive projects with paper or special graphic design.

TOYS COLLECTION
ANCHOR STONE BLOCKS / ANKER-STEINBAUKASTEN
Modellbausteinspiele Gmbh / Rudolstadt Thüringen / Germany / A mixture of quartz, sand, chalk, and linseed oil. Inspired from the playconcept of Friedrich Fröbel. First produced by Otto Lilienthal and his brother Gustav with limited commercial success. ROYAL PET / A Japanese company called “Senshukai” sold these wooden animals in the late 1960’s.
The collection was called “Royal Pet” and sold one animal at a time by a monthly mail order subscription. These animals were inspired by Danish modern wooden animals (like the teak animal figurines designed by Hans Bolling, Kay Bojesen, etc.) and handcrafted by Japanese “Kokeshi” (traditional Japanese wooden dolls) craftsmen.
