“PING” BAMBOO SWINGS
Today the first October 2016 is the beginning of Dashain, the most important, largest and longest Hindu festival celebrated mainly in Nepal. Throughout the fifteen days the Nepalese Hindus carry out many sacred ceremonies and traditions as a community and they like to have fun as well. There are kite-flying competitions, playing card activities and villages and city neighborhoods build towering bamboo swings that let swingers reach death-defying heights while standing on a narrow wooden plank, hands grasping a thick, rough rope made from a tough grass. These swings are called “Ping” in Nepali – They are temporary and mostly enjoyed by children, however during Dashain every person should leave the ground at least once…
